Obituary for Robert R. "Bob" Koller

PEORIA Robert R. Bob Koller, 91, of Peoria passed away at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2015, at Liberty Village Manor Court.
Bob was born on Sept. 13, 1924, in Peoria to the late Joseph and Freida (Stone) Koller. He married Verna Tulick. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1971. He later married Rose Marie (Hietter) Kneer on Aug. 12 1972, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. She survives.
He is also survived by three children, Susan (Jim) Juskiv of Washington, Ill., Bob (Lynn) Koller of Chillicothe, and Tim (Susan) Koller of Peoria; three stepchildren, Mike (Sandi) Kneer of Washington, Connie (Hal) McIntosh of East Peoria, and Deanna (Bob) Reeder of Bloomington; 16 grandchildren, Kevin, Joe, Randy, Chris, Tom, Molly, Ashley, Kelly, Ryan, Michele, Bobby, Jake, Anna, Nick, Sean, and Emily; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, six sisters, and two infant grandchildren.
Bob was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force, where he attained the rank of corporal. He worked for Caterpillar for 37 years and at Talman Home Savings and Loan for 13 years.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council #4333, where he worked in the kitchen for over 20 years during bingo.
In his younger years, Bob loved to hunt and fish. As he grew older, he and Rose spent every summer on a trip to Minnesota to fish.
He loved all of his children and was proud of all of them, especially all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Liberty Village Manor Court and Transitions Hospice for the great care they gave Bob.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Wright Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Holy Family Catholic Church or Peoria Honor Flight Program.
