Peoria- Robert N. Kelly, age 87, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at UnityPoint Methodist.

Bob was born in Peoria, a son of James P. and Louise D. (Carlson) Kelly. He married Grace Dentino on August 31, 1957 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are daughter Susan K. (Al) Tony of Peoria and their children Stephen and Kelly; son James M. Kelly of Charleston, SC and his children Kaitlyn and Samantha; son Stephen (Greta) Kelly of Peoria and their children Jessica, Erik, Max, Parker, Paige and Sloan; son Patrick (Collinda) Kelly of Peoria and their children, Austin, James and Anna-Grace; four great-grandchildren Chloe, Owen, Mila and Cameron.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, “Big” Jim Kelly.

Bob proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was an assembler at Caterpillar and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Spalding Council #427 and St. Philomena Catholic Church.

Bob was an avid Chicago Cub fan, and was very grateful for a World Series victory in 2016. Bob was known to many as “Uncle Bobby”. Family was important to Bob, even after losing his parents at an early stage in his life. Bob and his brother Jim, spent many Sunday evenings going for car rides. Following his retirement from Caterpillar, Bob took the role as Grace’s personal driver to every endeavor she had. Bob’s everyday goal, was to put a smile on anyone’s face he encountered. Bob’s Catholic faith was very important to him. Bob loved Grace, and his family, more than anything else.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, with half hour prior visitation. Fr. David Richardson will officiate and entombment of ashes will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels through the Neighborhood House in Peoria. Meals on Wheels was very special to Bob and Grace and any donations would be appreciated.
