Obituary for Robert L. Reichert

PEORIA HEIGHTS-Robert L. Reichert, 90, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at his residence. He was born on December 17, 1919 in Warsaw, MN to Philip H. and Ellen King Reichert. He married Pauline C. Buck on April 23, 1946 in Peoria. She passed away on August 11, 2007 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Reichert in 2002, three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Debi) Reichert of Eatonville, WA and Norman (Debra) Reichert of Peoria Heights, IL; one daughter, Ellen Farrell of Normal, IL; seven grandchildren, Tanya, T.J., Robert, Caitlin, Jennifer, Jamie and Josh; three great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Sabrina and Anthony. Robert was a Physical Science Technician for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1980. He received 2 Superior Service Awards for soybean oil flavor stability. He was a World War II Army veteran and was the recipient of the Bronze Star for Valor. Robert was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council #4333, Third Degree, American Legion Post #2, VFW Post #2602 and St. Vincent De Paul Society. He was a lifelong Cub fan and enjoyed fishing, camping and his dog, Goldie. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at St. Thomas Church with Msgr. William Watson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum with Military Rites accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Church Building Fund or Peoria Heights Fire Department.
