Obituary for Robert J Christian

Robert J. Christian, 84, of Peoria died at 9:39 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born March 26, 1927, in Princeville to Joseph L. and Mary Imogene Cushing Christian. He first married Eileen C. Heinz on April 12, 1958 in Princeville. She died on July 4, 1988 in Peoria, then he married Alice E. Miller on Feb. 25, 1995, she died March 3, 2001 in Peoria. He last married Gloria Baer Finn Reynolds on Aug. 30, 2002 in Peoria, she survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Teresa Christian and Judy (Jeremy) Frietsch both of Peoria. One granddaughter, Kathryn Eileen Frietsch of Peoria, sister-in-law Eileen B. Christian of Princeville. Also surviving, 9 step children, Debbie (Matt) Rummel of Delavan, Kevin (Sherry) Finn of Goshen, IN, Ralph Finn of Oregon, Terri Finn of Peoria, Carol (Rick) Picl of Peoria Hgts., Jean and Jan Finn of Lincoln, IL., Mary Beth (Jim) Albrecht of Woodhull, Il., Tony (Heidi) Finn of Kewanee, IL. and 15 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first two wives and a son, Patrick Christian in 1992 and one brother, Leo Eugene Chrisitian. He was an electrician at Ameren Cilco until his retirement in 1989. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a board member of the Veterans Assistance Commission in Peoria. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, American Legion Post #1078, in Dunlap where he was Past Commander, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Spalding Council #427 and 4th Degree Spalding Assembly #206 and held office in all positions within the 4th degree. A Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at his church with Msgr. William A. Watson and Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Church, with a scripture service at 6:45 p.m. Further visitation will one half hour prior to the Mass on Friday. Burial will be in St. Clements Cemetery, Dunlap. Memorials to St. Thomas Church Building Fund, American Cancer Society, and Special Olympics in Bloomington, IL.
