Born July 2, 1935 in Peoria, to Joseph and Stella (Wissing) Rahn. Bob graduated from Spalding High School with the Class of 1953. He then started his 41 year career as an assembly line worker at Caterpillar along with continuing to farm for many years. Bob was active in the Peoria Barbershop Chorus, as well as the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Choir. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Kickapoo Sportsman’s Club, St Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo, and Cursillo and Royal Youth.
Bob was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. In his free time, he enjoyed mowing his grass on his John Deere Tractor, doing crossword puzzles and singing. Bob’s most treasured memories were the times he spent with his family and friends, as well as attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Bob is survived by his three children: Tammy (David) Neys of Edelstein, Todd (Lisa) Rahn of Princeville, and Tracey (Joe) Giovani of Peoria; nine grandchildren: Kayla, Nick, Brady, Taylor, Jordan (Derek), Maddisyn (Dustin), Kamryn, Katie, and Natalie; one great-grandson: Ridge; one sister: Helen Meyer of Bartonville; friend and companion: Susan Barham of Peoria; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leo (Donna) Rahn, sister Mary (Ray) Stenger, brother in law Irvin Meyer, and infant grandson Robert Neys.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 between the hours of 4:00pm and 6:00pm at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Kickapoo parish hall with recitation of the Rosary at 3:15pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Kickapoo at 11:00am with an additional visitation being held one hour prior to Mass. Father James Pankiewicz will officiate and burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Apostolic Christian Skyline and OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for their love and care.
