Obituary for Bob Kunz
Robert H. Kunz, 60, of 2601 W. Reservoir died at 11:10 a.m. Monday, August 25, 1997 at Methodist Medical Center.
He was born October 26, 1936 in Peoria to Robert Emil and Evelyn McClure Kunz. 

Surviving are his fiancée, Barbara Patterson of Peoria; three daughters, Debra Goldsmith of Peoria, Kamy Lynn Henson of Elizabeth, Colorado and Kara Ann Kunz of Aurora, Colorado; and eight grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
He served in the Navy from 1956 to 1960.
He was a former Peoria County assistant state’s attorney and a criminal defense attorney in the Peoria area for many years.
He graduated from the University of Illinois, Bradley University and from the University of Denver Law School in 1971.
He was a member of the American Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association.
He graduated from the Navy School of Music in Washington, D.C. and played in the Navy Big Band. He taught drums in the Navy and took drum lessons from Gene Krupa and Louie Belson. He won 18 straight first place championships in drum competitions in the state of Illinois.
He played with the Artie Shaw Band, Buddy Rich Band, Stan Getz Band, Les Brown’s Band of Renown and the Louie Prima Band. He also had his own band, the Bob Kunz Jazz Trio.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. The Rev. Ritch Boerckel will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Peoria.
