Obituary for Robert Dale Mayo Jr.
Robert Dale MayoJr., age 80, of Farmington passed away at 8:28 PM on August 4th, 2018 at OSF St. Frances Medical Center.
He was born to Robert and Lavena (Eccles) Mayo on February 14, 1938 in Peoria.
Bob married Margaret (Matthews) Mayo on December 23, 1959 in Jacksonville, NC. She survives along with children Mike (Sharon) Mayo of Edwardsville, IL, Kelly Mayo of Peoria and Ken Mayo of Peoria. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: Lauren (Cody) Clayton Justin Mayo, Meagan Mayo, Richard Hedeman, Jessica (Mike) Mills, Zach Hedeman, Jacob Hedeman, Ian Hedeman, Chris Mayo, Skye Mayo, Isaiah Mayo, Simon Mayo, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Linda (Tim) Elder, nieces nephews, extended family and friends who all loved him very much and will miss him dearly. Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister Rosanne Hughes.
Bob served in the United States Marine Corps and worked at Caterpillar retiring in October 1993. He loved fishing, hunting, racing and fixing cars, and spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a member of Farmington Moose Lodge 1571, a Past Governor and earned the Fellowship Degree of Honor.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 9:00 AM till time of funeral service at 11:00 AM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Pastor Jack Thompson will officiate, and burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Farmington Fire Dept Rescue 1100 and Dream Center Peoria.
