WASHINGTON - Robert “Bob” Catton, 78, of Washington, IL, passed away at 4:08 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2013, at OSF Medical Center in Peoria. He was born July 14, 1935, to Everett and Edith (Crady) Catton. He married Helen Ludolph at St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo on September 10, 1955. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, bothers Rolland and Dale, and his son, Raymond. He is survived by four sons, Rolland “Rollie” (Karen) of Morton, IL, Craig, Robert “Robbie” Jr. (Debbie), and Curt (Sharon) all of Washington, IL; two daughters, Diana “Dee Dee” (Ron Jackson) and Jodie both of Washington, IL; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson Bob served in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean war veteran. He was also a lifetime member of the Amvets and a member of the Marine Navy Club. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after 40 years of service. Bob was a family man who coached his sons in NTRA little league baseball and coached his children in the junior leagues at Plaza Lanes. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved to travel, spending winters in Texas and summers in Wisconsin. A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Brimfield, IL. A celebration of life to be held at the Vietnam Veterans of Illinois (the bunker), 100 W. Bittersweet Rd., Washington, IL 61571 following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to North Tazewell Fire & Rescue Squad and St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
