Obituary for Robert A. Venzon

WEST PEORIA-Robert A. Venzon, 78 of West Peoria, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at his residence. Born on April 3, 1928 in Peoria to Angelo A. and Margaret M. Garino Venzon. He married Rita Ann Seiz on November 29, 1952 in Peoria. She passed away on September 28, 2002 in Peoria. Surviving are one son, Rob Venzon of Westminster, CO; six daughters, Mary Beth (Gary) McGarvey of Peoria, Terry Jones of Enterprise, OK, Cathy (Paul) Stenger of Peoria, Carol (Tom) Borowski of Wauconda, IL, Regina (Steve) Spika of Waxhaw, NC and Barb (Javier) Grow of Peoria; 16 grandchildren, Pat McGarvey, Kelsey McGarvey, Megan Olsen, Brianne Jones, Jeff Jones, Mary Jones, Travis Jones, Paul Stenger, Caitlin Stenger, Joe Borowski, Karen Borowski, Stephen Spika, Elizabeth Spika, Michael Spika, Javier Grow and Bethany Grow; six brothers, John (Caroline) Venzon of Peoria, Louis (Harriet) Venzon of Washington, IL, James Venzon of Los Gatos, CA, Joseph (Chris) Venzon of Washington, IL, Mike (Cathy) Venzon of Wheaton, IL and Steve (Cathy) Venzon of Bastrop, TX; and two sisters, Mary Angela (Nick)Ivvera of East Peoria and Barb Kenny of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a retired Sheet Metal worker. He was a Korean War Army veteran with the rank of Sergeant, serving from 1950-1952. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and Sheet Metal Workers Local #1. Bob also had an extended family in the staff and children of St. Mark’s School in which he was known as the “Honary Grandpa”. For four years, the special friendship he shared with his St. Mark’s Family brought him great joy and allowed him to honor the memory of his dear Rita Ann. A Funeral Mass will be at10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mark’s Church with Rev. Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the rosary at 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour before the mass at church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s School. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
