Obituary for Robert W. Kreutz
Robert W. Kreutz, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017.Â
He was born April 1st, 1925 in Chicago, IL., to William C. and Mabel M. (Zender) Kreutz. He is survived by his wife Virginia of 68 years, and their 6 children, Barbara (Bernie) Hobin and Mary (Bill) Voorhees, of Peoria, Kathleen (Bob) Vonachen of Springfield, IL, Judith Mahoney and Michael (Sue) Kreutz of Peoria, Steven (Christine) Kreutz of Chicago, IL, 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.Â
Robert grew up in Chicago, IL, graduating from Sullivan High School, then attended Syracuse University and Eureka College. He proudly served his country in WWII as 1st Lieutenant and Pilot in the Pacific Theatre with the 11th Air Force.  After the service, he met and married Virginia A. McCartney on April 23, 1949 in Chicago IL., and they made a life and family together in Peoria, IL. Â
His professional career as a salesman included Insurance Agent and General Agent for Illinois Mid-Continent Life Ins. Co, General Agent and Agency Vice President for State Life of Illinois, President and Director of Central Investors Life of IL, and Vice President and Director of Insurance Investors & Holding Company of IL.  He was a member of the Million Dollar Round Table and Illinois Leaders Round Table. He later worked as Manufacturers Representative and President of Mid-America Distributing Corp., retiring in 1988.Â
Robert was co-founder of the Rolling Meadows, Illinois Little League and a charter member of the Arlington Heights, IL Elks Lodge #2048. He was a member of Willow Knolls Country Club & Golf League and a Saturday Morning Golf League for 53 years, playing up to age 89. He was an avid sports fan, and lived to see his Chicago Bears win the Super Bowl and his Cubs win the World Series.
Bob was privileged to be an Honor Flight participant in 2013 and was an active member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and former member of St. Philomena Church. A devoted husband and father, he was happiest when attending family gatherings, wintering with his wife in Florida, or on the golf course with good friends. He was well loved, loved well, and will be missed by all.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Monday, December 4, 2017 at St. Philomena Catholic Church with Fr. David Richardson officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, Sunday, December 3, 2017 also at St. Philomena Church with a further visitation one hour prior to Mass on Monday. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church or Greater Peoria Honor Flight, PO Box 5072, Peoria, IL 61601.
