Obituary for Richard M Boland
Peoria- Richard M Boland, age 80, of Peoria, passed away at 4:13 AM Sunday, March 20, 2016 at St. Joseph Nursing Home.
Born January 2, 1936 in Freeport, IL, he was the son of Charles and Eileen (Hoffman) Boland. Richard was an avid sports fan cheering on his favorite teams including Notre Dame, the White Sox, and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed playing basketball and even traveled with a European Team while in the army. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and embracing his Irish background.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Eileen Boland and one brother Thomas Boland.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Peoria, three children, Matthew Boland of Woodstock, IL, Susan (Andrew) Piper of Peoria, and Kelly (Trevor) Roberts of Peoria; three grandchildren Liam, Charlie, and Lucas; two sisters Margaret Walton of Diamond Head MS, Joan Farrow of Mt Prospect, IL; and one brother Gerald Boland.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Fr. Dustin Schultz will officiate, and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
