Obituary for Richard "Dick" P Ruskusky
Peoria-Richard “Dick” Ruskusky, age 68, or Peoria, passed away at 6:48 AM on October 19, 2016 at his residence.
Born September 22, 1948 in Peoria, he was a son to John and Marjorie (Malone) Ruskusky. On February 6, 1971 Dick married the love of his life Cheri Belford at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. He worked at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in the hospitality department for 36 years. He also worked part-time at the Peoria Civic Center for 20 years.
Dick was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and it’s St. Vincent de Paul Society and choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Spalding Council 427 and 4th Degree Spalding Assembly #206, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and St. Patrick Society of Peoria. He was a VIP of the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon for over 20 Years. Dick was an avid Chicago Bears Fan, and will be remembered for his love of traveling with Cheri and spending time, during the winter, in Florida. He was truly loved by all who met him and will truly be missed.
Survivors include his mother Marjorie of Peoria; his wife Cheri of 45 years; two sons, Paul (Heidi) Ruskusky of Glen Ellyn, IL and Scott (Brande) Ruskusky of West Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, Ella, Payton, Morgan, Tess, Mason, Laurel, and Miles Ruskusky; one sister Rita (Kevin) Littlefield of Morton, and his brother Jack (Christine) Ruskusky of Pekin.
Dick was preceded in death by his father, and two children, Christine and Mark.
A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars will officiate and burial will be in Princeville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church. An additional visitation will be held one hour prior to mass.
