Obituary for Raymond John Little Jr.
Peoria- Raymond John Little, Jr., 86, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Peoria Heights, Illinois, passed away October 3, 2017, at Lutheran Hillside Village.
Raymond was born on August 30, 1931 in Peoria, to Raymond and Frances (Buck) Little. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School, Woodruff High School and WVCC, where he earned a degree in automotive operational safety.
He married Betty Larke on July 7, 1951. She survives. They danced together for sixty-six years. Together they had five children, Amy (John) Kelly, Jody (Keith) Kamin, Timothy (Kay) Little, Beth (Andy) Casten, and Suzette Rae Kennedy, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one granddaughter, Tessa Casten. Ray and Betty lovingly and loyally cared for Suzette’s daughter, Janice Kennedy, for the last thirty-four years. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. His brothers, Hobart (Jean) and Paul (Nancy), along with his sisters, Betty (Dave) Svymbersky and Paula (Rick) Gall survive him as well.
Ray worked for forty years at CILCO and Ameren, starting as a lineman and finishing as a supervisor. A great many lifelong friendships were established during his tenure.
He was a member of St. Jude Knights of Columbus and St. Thomas parish.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing. And had a passion for the outdoors and in particular pheasant hunting. He was devoted to family and friends, was selfless with his time, love and loyalty.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 5, at Wright and Salmon Mortuary, 2416 N. North Street in Peoria. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, in Peoria Heights, on Friday, October 6, at 10:30 AM, with a visitation thirty minutes before. Reverend Paul Stark will preside. Internment will be at Springdale Cemetery following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance or the charity of your choice.
