Obituary for Raymond J. Stenger
Kickapoo- Raymond J. Stenger, age 90, of Kickapoo, passed away at 6:18 AM on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Heartis of Peoria with his family by his side.
Born April 20, 1931 in Kickapoo, he was a son to Charles and Cecilia (Loescher) Stenger. Ray honroably served as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1952 till 1954. On May 24, 1952 he married Mary Ann Rahn in Kickapoo and together they cherished 63 years until her passing on March 16, 2015. Ray worked at Prarie Farms Dairy for 36 years. He drove a milk tanker for Willard Hasselbacher for many years, collecting milk from area farmers. Ray always took along one of his kids who looked forward to the carton of choclate milk upon arrival back at the dairy. Upon retirement he and Mary would enjoy many fishing trips to Kentucky. Ray was a cub scout leader, long time member of the Kickapoo Sportsman Club, and the St. Mary Men’s Club.
Survivors include 6 children: John (Cathy) Stenger of Peoria, Cathy (Tony) Sherlock of Kickapoo, Pat (Dave) Jones of Hanna City, Debbie (Norman) Lock of Peoria, Brenda (Randy) Rundle of East Peoria and Mary (Dave) Cantrall of Surprise, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Ceil Guth of Metamora, IL and Mary Louise Stenger of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Wife Mary Ann, three children, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Father James Pankiewicz will officiate and burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Kickapoo.
Memorials in Ray’s memory may be made to Easter Seals or st. Mary’s Parish of Kickapoo.
