Obituary for Rae C. Zinser

KICKAPOO-Rae Charles Zinser, 86 of Kickapoo, passed away at 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at ManorCare Health Services in Peoria. He was born on September 28, 1920 in Washington, IL to Charles and Stella King Zinser. He married Thelma Heinz on July 26, 1941 in Washington, IL. She passed away on October 7, 1988 in Peoria. Surviving are three sons, Dr. Robert R. (Christine) Zinser and James L. (Sheila) Zinser both of Kickapoo and Thomas C. Zinser of Peoria Heights; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers. He retired after 30 years, from Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville and later worked at Foster and Gallagher in Peoria. After retirement, he enjoyed overseeing the day to day operations at Hanley’s Amoco in Kickapoo. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. He was past president of the Wally Bynum Caravan Club. Funeral Mass for Rae will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo with Father Patrick Riordan officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and 30 minutes before the mass at church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo. Memorial contributions may be made to the ManorCare Health Services-Arcadia Wing-Activities Fund in honor of his friends and the caring staff at Manor Care in Peoria.
