Obituaries
Peoria- Phyllis A. Gysin, age 87, of Peoria, passed away at 1:15 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born February 03, 1929 in Peoria, she was a daughter to Henry and Clara Gabel-Eigenbrod. Phyllis graduated from Academy of Our Lady, and started working as a Legal Administrative Assistant for several local law firms, then transferred to the Court Counselor Program at the courthouse, and ended her career working for the U of I Extension Service office. She loved singing and even won a singing competition. Phyllis was an active member with the Belles of Harmony, and also volunteered at P.A.W.S, OSF St. Francis Medical Center, and Proctor Hospital. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was loved and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include four children, Cynthia Gysin, Janet Gysin, John (Dorene) Gysin, and Jim Gysin all of Peoria; as well as, four grandchildren, Jessica (Dylan) Polk, Phillip Gysin, Jonathan Gysin, and Courtney (Nick) Hogan; as well as, three great grandchildren, Jade Hogan, Jax Hogan and Connor Polk.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John H. Gysin, and her sister Carol Gauwitz.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 03, 2017 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Richardson will officiate, and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials in Phyllis’s memory may be made to PCAPS, Peoria County Animal Protection Services, (AKA P.A.W.S.).
