Obituary for Peter Schaub
ELMWOOD ~ Peter N. Schaub, 83 of Elmwood, passed away at 10:48 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Born June 30, 1939 in Oak Hill to Edward and Hilda (Kelch) Schaub, he married Cleo Patterson on February 7, 1970 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Edward (Telena) Schaub of Dunlap; one daughter, Nicole (Aleksandr) Shuster of Brimfield; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Hugo (Denise) Schaub of Brimfield and August (Debbie) Schaub of Elmwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Schaub; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Comisky, Violet Schmitt and Katherine Schaub.
Peter was a veteran of the United States Army, serving at Fort Clayton in the Panama Canal.
He was the President of Schaub Mobile Line Boring Service, Inc. Prior to that, he had worked for R.A. Cullinan for sixteen years.
He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #649 and the Brimfield American Legion.
He lived the American Dream. He married the woman he wanted, had children he loved, built them a home and had his own business.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Father James Pankiewicz and Father John Verrier will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2022 St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish Hall. Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Additional visitation will be half an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, where military honors will be provided.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School.
