Peoria-Peggy Ann King, 61, of Peoria, passed away in the late evening hours Friday, July 27, 2012 in the Heartland section of Riverview Retirement Home in East Peoria. She was born July 25, 1951, in Peoria , to Paul and Margaret (Smith) King. He survives along with his wife Elizabeth “Liz” Baum King of East Peoria. Also surviving are her brother, Gary (Jill) King of Peoria, her sisters, Susan McCormick of rural Washburn; and Jennifer King of Livingston, Montana; and long time family friend Cathy McManis of rural Washburn. She was preceded in death by her mother, her paternal and maternal grandparents, three uncles and two aunts. She graduated from St. Bernard grade school, the Academy of Our Lady high school and Illinois Central College. She spent her entire adult life working in the medical field, spending the last 28 years as the physician secretary at Great Plains Orthopaedic. A great lover of animals she is survived by her horse, Nino, and her Manchester pair of Sparks and Vinnie. For many years she was very ac tive in the Peoria ObedienceClub, serving as president and on the board of directors while she trained a number of championship border collies. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Fr. Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before Mass on Wednesday. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery.
