Obituary for Pauline M. Gardner

PEORIA-Pauline M. Gardner, 94, of Peoria, passed away at 12:55 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2009 in the loving arms of family and friends at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria. Born September 28, 1914 in Boston, MA to Roko and Dora Skertic. She married Vincent E. Gardner on September 12, 1950 at St. Anthony’s Church in San Gabriel, CA. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1964. Surviving are two sons, Vincent A. (Rosemarie) Gardner and Thomas E. (Susan) Gardner both of Peoria; six grandchildren, Riley, Thomas, Anthony, Anna, Mary and Emily Gardner; two brothers, Steve (Marie) Skertic and Thomas (Teresia-deceased) Skertic; two sisters, Barbara (John-deceased) Freidrich and Ann Price of CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Mathew (Emia) Skertic and John (Mary) Skertic of PA; two sisters, Josephine Skertic of PA and Mary (Herb) Sharp of Peoria. Pauline graduated from high school in Sharon, PA and attended Sharon Community College in banking. She worked for various banks in Pittsburgh, PA before getting married and becoming a full time wife and mother. Her greatest accomplishments were not monetary, but the love from her heart. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law and a great grandmother. Her grandchildren were her life. Pauline died very peaceful in the loving arms of her family and friends. Pauline will be cremated and a Catholic Mass will be celebrated in her honor. Her final remains will be buried next to her husband at Resurrection Cemetery in San Gabriel, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial masses or contributions to be made to St. Marks’ Catholic Church, 1113 W. Bradley Ave., Peoria 61606; 309-673-1263. She loved the masses said on Tuesday’s at Bel-Wood. Pauline was a very caring and loving mother and loved our Lord Jesus Christ. She will always be loved and truly missed.
