Obituary for Paul P. Schmitt

PEORIA-Paul P. Schmitt, 54, of Henry, IL and formerly of Peoria, passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, IL. He was born on March 17, 1955 in Peoria to Joseph T. and Pearl Beach Schmitt. He was formerly married to Dianna Schmitt-Thompson. She survives of Chillicothe. He is also survived by one son, Jake of Peoria; five sisters, Marilyn (Louis) Scroggins of Peoria, Joanie (Tom) Burke of Peoria, Ginny (Jim) Verdun of Colona, IL, Loretta Faley of Peoria and Katie (Bruce) Boyer of Peoria; one brother, Tom (Mary Lynne) Schmitt of Peoria; his girlfriend, Dawn Seiler and her children, Mary Frances, Anthony, Thomas and Daniel J. Seiler, II; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Mary Ellen Schmitt, three brothers, Donald, Gerald and George; and one cousin, Danny Seiler. He was an operator for Polyone in Henry, IL and formerly a bartender at Jim’s Steak House. He was a former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Paul loved the Chicago Cubs, fishing and boating on the Illinois River. He was a wonderful friend and he was quick witted. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with Msgr. William Watson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 7:45 p.m. Cremation rites accorded. Private burial of ashes will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
