Obituary for Paul E. Frietsch

PEORIA – Paul E. Frietsch, 97, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 10:05 p.m.
Paul was born on April 6, 1915 in Peoria, the son of Edward Frank and Magdalena (Melzer) Frietsch. He married Patricia A. Carr on September 26, 1953 at Cathedral of St. Mary in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Eileen M. Frietsch of Peoria; one son, Kevin E. Frietsch of Ontario, CA; one granddaughter, Laura L. Austin, and one great-grandson, Jayrid Stoltz, both of Peoria; and one niece, Cynthia Stagg of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
Paul was a World War II veteran, serving from 1942 to 1945. He was stationed at Percy Jones General Hospital and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed by Hiram Walker as an engineer for 45 years, retiring in 1980. He was a 1960 graduate of Bradley University.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Spalding Council #427, Third Degree, American Legion Post 1074 in Dunlap, and Amvets Post 64. He was a volunteer for the Salvation Army for 25 years; and he was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish for 43 years where he served as an usher for 35 years and was a past member of the Men’s Club and Dart Ball Team. He was also a member of Cursillo.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father James Pallardy will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright Salmon is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
