Obituary for Paul A. Heinz

KICKAPOO - Paul A. Heinz, 99, of Kickapoo- Edwards passed away at 6:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Cornerstone Rehab & Health Care. Paul was born on Dec. 27, 1915, near Kickapoo to the late Phillip G. and Otilla (Bienemann) Heinz. He married Margaret F. Roedl on May 30, 1944, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 2013. They celebrated 68 ½ years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson. He is survived by two sons, Gregory (Noel) Heinz of Edwards and Paul J. (Stephanie) Heinz of Channahon, Ill.; two daughters, Angela (James) Miazga of Frankfort, Ill., and Theresa (Bill) Preston of Bartonville; nine grandchildren, Laurie Heinz of Peoria, Tracy Collins of Munster Ind., Jill Hilty of Chicago, David Miazga of Mount Prospect, Ill., Steven Miazga of Mundelein, Ill., Jennifer Miazga, Frankfort, Ill., Julia Preston Mondello of Byron, Ill., Melissa Preston of Ladd, Ill., and Joseph Preston of Ft. Collins, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Teresa (Cecelia) Hines of Peoria. Paul was a farmer all his life milking his first cow at age 8. He was well known for his very straight crop rows and farming techniques which he passed on to many friends. He worked as a farm hand up to age 86. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Kickapoo and enjoyed being an usher, since he was very social and welcoming, and was a member of the Men’s Club, serving as an officer and treasurer. He worked on the maintenance committees for the church, grade school and cemetery and was on the committee for the church’s annual sausage dinner volunteering for 50 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Rosati Council and the Kickapoo Sportsman’s Club. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kickapoo. Father Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Kickapoo. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
