Obituary for Patrick J. Carroll

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - Patrick J. Carroll, 69, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., passed away at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, on a beautiful mountain in the Colorado Rockies.
Patrick was born on March 16, 1946, in Peoria, Ill., to the late Orville and Margaret (Schifeling) Carroll. He married Constance Connie Jeneson on Aug. 16, 1969, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Tim (Heather) Carroll of Lakewood, Colo., and Steve Kirby Carroll of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Coleton, Cian, Ava and Connor; his sister, Barb Maier of Eugene, Ore.; and his brother, Steve Carroll of Sperryville, Va.
His parents and two brothers, Bob and Jim, preceded him in death.
Patrick graduated from Spalding Institute in 1964. He attended Canton Community College and graduated from the University of Illinois School of Pharmacy in 1970.
He worked as a pharmacist for over 40 years including owning his own business (Carrolls Pharmacy in Peoria) for 17 years. During his work tenure, Patrick also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.
Patrick was a member of the Central Illinois Pharmaceutical Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Notre Dame High School Boosters Club, and the Colorado Mountain Club. He also volunteered at the Childrens Hospital of Colorado.
In addition to having a passion for motorcycles and airplanes, Patrick loved adventure. During his retirement, Patrick traveled extensively and spent many hours exploring the Colorado Rockies. Although Patrick cherished many things, his greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria, Ill. Father David Richardson will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass also at St. Philomena. Private burial of ashes will be in St. Josephs Cemetery. Wright Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peoria Notre Dame High School scholarship fund.
