Obituary for Patricia Schlicksup Nailon

PEORIA - Patricia M. Schlicksup Nailon, 91, of Peoria died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Patricia was born on September 11, 1922, in St. Louis, MO, to John and Margaret Melican Heeg. She married Edward J. Schlicksup, MD on December 27, 1943. He died on July 3, 1978. She then married William Nailon in January 1989. He died in May 2002. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and only sibling, John Heeg, Jr. She is survived by nine children, Edward J. (Cindy) Schlicksup, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, John C. Schlicksup of Peoria, Peter J (Judy) Schlicksup of Davenport, IA, Margaret A. (Tom) Schueppert of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Richard K. (Vicki) Schlicksup of Peoria, Robert T. (Cinzia) Schlicksup of Golden Valley, MN, David M. (Terri) of East Peoria, Patrick M. (Chris) Schlicksup of Hebron, KY and Marti M. (Kevin) Schlicksup-Sills of Dunlap; and two stepchildren, Larry (Christine) Nailon of Peoria and Elizabeth Nailon of Atlanta, GA. In addition, she is survived by 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren, as well as, a legion of friends. After Dr. Schlicksup died, she was a co-owner of the Happy Hanger for many years. Upon her retirement, she was a volunteer and member of a number of organizations including the Ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Red Hat Society and the Catholic Womens’ League. She took great pride in her Irish heritage. Her family would like to thank the wonderful healthcare staff at Proctor Place for the excellent, loving care they gave her. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas on Thursday, February 6 at 11 a.m. Additional visitation will be one hour before Mass. Burial will be at Resurrection Mausoleum immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to St Thomas the Apostle Food Pantry, the Southside Office of Concern, or Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc., PO Box 531313, Henderson NV 89053.
