Peoria ~ Patricia C. Powers, 86, of Peoria, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.
Born May 26, 1937 in Peoria to David and Ella (Off) Cummings, she married Dennis Powers on July 12, 1958 in Washington, Illinois. He survives.
Also surviving are her son, Chris (Marilou) Powers of Galesburg; two daughters, Betsy (Mark) Theis of Spokane, Washington and Amy (Russell) Klein of Metamora; daughter-in-law, Julie Powers of Azusa, California; eight grandchildren, Adam and his spouse, Mary Grayce, Emily, Jacob, Carly, Collum, Charlie and Vincent; one great-granddaughter, Lily; two brothers, Chuck Cummings of Silver City, New Mexico and John (Anita) Cummings; and two sisters, Susie Wiegand and Joan Knott both of Washington, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael, who passed away April 5, 2023, her grandson David, and brother Tony Cummings.
Pat had worked as a teacher for Metamora Grade School.
She was a member of the Hines School Mother’s Club, and volunteered at Springdale Cemetery, Peoria Public Library Genealogy Group and helped with St. Thomas Catholic Church funeral luncheons.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Visitation will follow from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Mortuary. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
