Obituary for Patricia "Pat" Barr
DUNLAP - Patricia “Pat” Barr of Dunlap died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center. She was born August 22, 1937 in Bellwood, IL to Alex and Carolyn Friebus. She married Richard H. Barr on June 7, 1958. He survives. She is also survived by three daughters Pamela (Bill) Bogner of Atlanta, GA, Kerri (Larry) Oberle of Terre Haute, IN, and Beth (Rick) Owens of Dunlap; three grandchildren Zach, Maxwell, and Sara Oberle; and one brother William. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry. After raising three children, Pat returned to school to study Early Childhood Special Education and received a B.S. degree from Bradley University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1977. She continued her education, earning her Master’s degree from Bradley University in 1994. She was employed by District 150 for 26 years, working with young special education students until retiring in 2003. Pat will always be remembered for her love of children, willingness to help families in need and devotion to her family. A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at the AMVETS Post 64 in Peoria on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. Happy stories and good memories will be shared.
