Obituary for Patricia F. Swan

Peoria- Patricia F. Swan, 92, of Peoria died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 5:48am at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She was born February 13, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of A.G. and Grace Fogarty Johnson. She married Chester P. Swan on December 28, 1945, in Oak Park, IL and he passed away on January 1, 1988, in Peoria. She was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence and Kenneth Swan, and one brother, Richard Johnson. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Swan and Nancy Hawkins both of Peoria. Also surviving are three sons, Peter (Sheilya) Swan of Arlington Heights, Stephen (Kathleen) Swan of Oswego, and David (Ann) Swan of Santa Barbara, CA. There are twelve grandchildren, Scott, Bradley, Jessica, Nicholas, Melissa, Tracy, Madeline, Julia, and Daniel Swan, also Justin, Jason, and Joshua Hawkins. There are six great-grandchildren, Lydia, Cade, Olivia, Dylan, Marissa, and Evan. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and its Mother's Club. She was the corresponding secretary for Birth Right, and active in Mended Hearts. She graduated from Rosary College in River Forest, IL with a degree in library science. She was a wonderful, caring woman and mother whose every waking thought was of her family. She always wore a smile and only had kind words for all. May God take care of her now. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30a.m. Friday Dec. 28, 2012, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Msgr. Stanley Deptula will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria, with a Scripture service at 6:45p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
