Obituary for Patricia A. Torres

PEORIA-Patricia A. Torres, 53, of Peoria, passed away at 9:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at her residence. She was born on September 21, 1955 in Aurora, IL to Joseph and Shirley Surratt Cansino. She first married Ignacio Torres. He passed away in January of 1993. She later married Tony Sommer. She is survived by one son, Ignacio Torres, Jr. of Peoria; four grandchildren, Gabriele, Carmen, Sydney and Koby; four sisters, Gail Hernblom of Peoria, Mary Beth (Charles) Meredith of Tampa, FL, Janice (Augustin) Aguilar of Peoria and Jennifer Morse (Hal Wilson) of Mapleton; one brother, Timothy J. (Pamela) Cansino of Peoria; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jeffrey and Anthony. She was owner of 5 Star General House Cleaning Service. She was a member of P.E.T.A. Patricia was passionate about roller skating and gardening. She loved to write sentimental hand written cards and letters to people. She always helped people less fortunate than herself and volunteered to hand out food baskets at Christmas Time. Her motto “Do what you gotta do, so you can do what you wanna do”. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Geoffrey Horton officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patricia Torres Memorial Fund in her memory c/o Members Choice Credit Union. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
