Obituary for Patricia A. Johnson
Patricia A. Johnson (nee Verbeke), formerly of Dunlap, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, restfully and peacefully in her sleep, with family at her side in Mishawaka, IN.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Cyriel and Adeline Verbeke of Peoria, her husband Clayton; daughter LuAnn “Tina” Riebman; sons-in-law Jon Blunk, James Lemm, Ron Riebman; and sister Mary Alice Peters and brother Daniel Verbeke.
She is succeeded by her children, Linda Blunk (Simon Addicott) of Mishawaka, IN, Terri Lemm of Hanna City, and David (Cindy) Johnson of Inverness, IL. She lovingly enjoyed the gift of 6 grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Christopher, Zachary, Hayley and Perianne, 6 great-grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter to be.
Pat was a 1948 graduate of the Academy of our Lady in Peoria. She faithfully worshipped at First English Lutheran Church for over 60 years, including by Zoom on her cell phone for the last two years from Indiana! She served as president of the Women’s Group and church Financial Secretary. She hosted a Bible Study Circle for over 50 years and served and coordinated funeral luncheons for countless families. Pat volunteered from its inception for over 30 years at Wildlife Prairie Park. In more recent years, she volunteered at Wheels of Time Museum in Dunlap.
Funeral Services will be at 11 AM, on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at First English Lutheran Church of Peoria. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM until time of service. Pastor Ryan Anderson will officiate and burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Since Pat was a 40-year cancer survivor and walked many years in the Race for the Cure, the family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
