Obituary for Oscar W. Heinz
KICKAPOO - Oscar W. Heinz, 91, of Kickapoo passed away at 3 p.m. Monday, July 4, 2016, at Bickford House in Peoria.
Oscar was born on July 25, 1924, on his family farm in Kickapoo to the late Anthony A. and Rose (Wagner) Heinz. He married Florence M. Stenger on Aug. 27, 1946, in Kickapoo. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Pillman of Kickapoo and JoAnn (Mike) Roedell of Germantown Hills; two sons, Tony (Laurel) Heinz of Peoria and Tom (Andrea) Heinz of Kickapoo; and “stepson”, Frank (Dorothy) Stenger of Kickapoo. The family extends a special thank you to Bob (Jude) Carman of Kickapoo. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter; two grandsons, Michael Roedell and Brian Lewis; and one granddaughter, Marcie Pillman.
Oscar worked as a farmer and carpenter.
He was a member of Peoria Carpenters’ Union Local #183 and Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree Bishop Rosetti Council. He was also a member of the Kickapoo Sportsmen’s Club, volunteered many years at the Kickapoo Sausage Dinner, and made woodworking items for the St. Jude Auction.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church n Kickapoo. Father Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Kickapoo. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
