Obituary for Norma Jean Kemmer
Norma Jean Kemmer, age 91, formerly of Mossville, IL passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Heritage Health of Chillicothe.
Norma was born on January 13, 1931 in Canton, IL, a daughter of Virgil E. and Anna Helen (Turner) Adleman.
Norma is survived by her husband of 70 years, William R. Kemmer, two children, Mary Kathleen “Kathy” (Michael) Schneider of Indianapolis, IN, Richard "Mike" Michael (Lisa) Kemmer of Washington, IL. as well as 6 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary L. Bouton, son Thomas L. Kemmer, son-in-law Gary A. Moore and granddaughter, Heidi Kemmer.
Norma was a graduate of Peoria's Woodruff High School. She worked in Dr. Bianco's office for several years then later worked in the Mossville Grade School cafeteria for 32 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a member of St. Peter’s Church in Peoria prior to its closing where she was a volunteer in Hospitality and St. Peter’s Church Kitchen. Along with her husband Bill, Norma enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin as well as square and round dancing for many years. They were long time members of the Chillicothe Cast Offs Square Dance Club.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at St. Jude Catholic Church with a one hour prior visitation. Fr. Patrick Henehan will officiate and burial will be at 1:15 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Easter Seals or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
