Obituary for Norma Gilles

KICKAPOO-Norma Gilles, 71 of Kickapoo, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Proctor Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1936 in Farmington, IL to Fioravanti and Margaret Girot Muzzarelli. She married Thomas Gilles on February 20, 1960 in Farmington. He survives. She is also survived by four children, Tonya (Stephen) Koch of Morton, Thomas Gilles of Peoria, Mark (Lynda) Gilles of Groveland, IL and Brenda (William) Raspopovich of Merrillville, IN; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Jacob Raspopovich of Merrillville, IN, Kristin, Nicole and Bryan Koch of Morton, Ashley and Chelsea Gilles of Groveland; one sister, Gloria Bridgestock of Farmington; one aunt, Margaret Muzzarelli of Peoria; and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one niece. Norma was a graduate of Farmington High School, where she played the drums in the marching band. She was a member of the choir and theatre group and was Miss Farmington. She was selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State. She was a great bowler and rolled a 278. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed country music. Norma was a very loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She loved to hunt and fish with her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo where a Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with Rev. David Heinz officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Peoria. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at St. Mary’s Church in Kickapoo on Saturday. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo. Memorial contributions may be made to A.L.S. Foundation.
