Obituary for Niles "Jim" Miller
Niles “Jim” Miller, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Liberty Village in Peoria, IL.
Jim was born on October 2, 1932 in Peoria, IL, a son of Niles Anthony and Helen (Conn) Miller. He married Patricia Agatucci on May 30, 1955 at St. Philomena Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Richard, sister, Jeanne White, grandson, Brandon Miller and great-granddaughter, Neena Church.
He is survived by one son Mike (Kim) Miller of Washington, IL; two daughters: Kathleen Miller of Normal, IL and Susan Miller of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren: Aimee (Chris) Ott of Normal, IL, Jeffrey (Kristin) Miller of Bartonville, IL, Ryan (Jennifer) Miller of Peoria, IL, Jennifer (Nick) Church of Bluford, IL and Breanna Miller of Normal, IL; 10 great-grandchildren: Madison, Tyler, Jack, Brady, Drew, Brandon, Samantha, James, Laura and Luke.
Jim is a 1950 graduate of Spalding Academy and attended Bradley University from 1950-51, then attended St. Benedict’s College from 1951-1953. He was a manager at Keystone Steel and Wire for over 28 years, retiring in 1981. After Keystone, Jim entered the mortgage banking business and worked for several companies over eight years. After that, he had the opportunity to work in several different fields that appealed to his interests.
Jim took great pleasure in sharing his time as a volunteer with WTVP, ALZ, Riverfront Visitor Center, March Madness, K of C Tootsie Roll Drive, and served as a Pontifical Usher at St. Mary’s Cathedral. He was member of St. Philomena Mens’ Club and a former Knights of Columbus member.
Jim’s wish was that his family and friends say a prayer to thank the Lord for the wonderful life He has given each of us.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel in Peoria, IL. Fr. David Richardson will officiate. A private family burial will be held after mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Philomena’s Church.
