Obituary for Nathaniel E. Miller

METAMORA-Nathaniel E. “Nate” Miller, 81, of Metamora and formerly of Peoria, passed away at 2:14 p.m. on Sunday November 29, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on November 6, 1928, in Peoria to Nathaniel P. and Edith Martin Miller. He first married Nadine M. Metcalf on November 6, 1964, in Collinsville, IL. She passed away on April 9, 1995, in Peoria. He later married Donna J. McMahon on July 15, 2000, in Peoria. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Metamora; two daughters, Julie (Chuck) Thrush of Peoria Heights and Patsy (Brad) Fortenbacher of Muskegon, MI; two sons, David McMahon of Muskegon, MI and Bill (Connie) McMahon of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Kristen Maul, Patrick Mathewson, Katie and Amanda Thrush, Megan and Kelly Baetzel, Katie and Jay Fortenbacher, Aaron and Austin McMahon; multiple great grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie (Richard) Anderson of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Nate was the former owner of Sequoia Lumber Company in Peoria. He was a Korean US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Christian Union Church in Metamora with Rev. Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church. Graveside services will be at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Snyder Village or Christian Union Church.
