Obituary for Nancy M. Carson

WEST PEORIA- Nancy M. Carson, 57, of West Peoria, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Nancy was born on February 14, 1956, in Peoria to Ervin and Hazel (Gambetti) Hamilton…the best valentine they ever received. She married Max Carson on June 28, 1974, in Peoria. He survives along with her mother of Peoria; two daughters, Tracy Koger and Heidi (Nate) Wessler; and one granddaughter, Shayla Wessler, all of West Peoria; one sister, Peggy Hamilton of Peoria; three nieces, Nicole (John) Bute of Lebanon, IL, Michelle Dunn of Elmwood, IL, Becky (Billy) Nugent of Clarksville, TN; one nephew, Andy Billings of Peoria; and three great-nieces, Allison, Gracie, and Ryanne. Also surviving, to keep Max company, is their dog Trixie Jo. She was preceded in death by her father. Nancy worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 39 years, retiring on July 1, 2013. Nancy enjoyed working with the West Peoria Residents’ Association in preparing the WP News, a community newsletter issued to all residents keeping them informed of what is going on in West Peoria. She also served West Peoria as the Plan Commissioner from 1998 through 2013 and was a member of their Economic Development Council from 2009 through 2011. Nancy was also involved with St. Mark’s Stunt Show, performing general chairman responsibilities from 1999 through 2006. Nancy was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader for both Tracy and Heidi’s troops. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxillary, serving as president in the 1990’s. Some of Nancy’s other interests include reading, “pooling”, and playing with her granddaughter. A funeral Mass will be on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at her church, with Fr. Geoffrey Horton officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, and half an hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded after the Mass and burial of cremains will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
