Obituary for Nancy J. Williams

PEORIA-Nancy J. Williams, 56 of Westminster, Colorado and formerly of Peoria, passed away peacefully at her home in Westminster, Colorado on February 28, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. She was born October 4, 1951 in Peoria to Francis B. and Nelda June Yeck McGuirk. Nancy was previously married to Dave Williams. Nancy enjoyed a lifelong career as a histotechnologist. Her abilities led her to opportunities in Illinois, Washington, and Colorado, with her latest position as a Histology Technical Manager at UniPath in Denver, Colorado. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Nancy had a profound love for animals of all kinds. She enjoyed many years of raising and riding horses, collecting antiques, calligraphy, and writing poetry. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, and her brother-in-law, Les Myhr. She is survived by her mother, June Haikey of Pekin; one brother, Robert McGuirk of Pekin; two sisters, Linda Myhr and Lynn Cunningham of Colorado; one daughter, Wendy Wheatley of Morton; one son, Adam (Heidi) Williams of Italy; four granddaughters, Alyssa, Parke and Madison Wheatley of Morton, and Lillian Williams of Italy. She is also blessed with many nieces and nephews, and family friend Carolyn Hathaway, all of whom she loved dearly. Nancy will also be missed by her bulldog buddy, Jewel, and feline friends, Gray and Frosty. A celebration of Nancy's life will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 10th at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Rev. Stephen Barch will officiate. Visitation will begin at 5:30 until the time of the services. Cremation rites accorded. In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested donations be made to any of the following causes: American Cancer Society, ASPCA or a local homeless shelter.
