Obituaries
Peoria- Myrna K. Bircher, age 93, of Peoria, passed away at 2:51 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Lutheran Hillside Village.
Born August 15, 1929 in Effingham, IL, a daughter to John and Mae (Erwin) Kincaid. She was raised and educated in Louisville, IL graduating with the class of 1947. On November 19, 1955 she married Wilton Bircher and together they cherished 42 years until his passing on October 31, 1997. Myrna worked as a supervisor for Kelly Services for many years. She was an avid reader who enjoyed doing daily Sudoku Puzzles and working in her flower garden. In her later years she traveled extensively abroad, including Egypt, Russia, Greece, and Italy to name a few. Myrna loved volunteering her time at The Methodist Hospital Gift Shop, but her greatest joy was spending time and raising her family. She was a beloved mother and grandmother who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include three children: Mark Bircher of Peoria, Thomas (Margaret) Bircher Smithton, IL and Lisa (Eric) Stine of Naperville, IL; and five grandchildren: Caroline (John) Rouck, Jacob and Matthew Bircher, Lauren and Emily Stine.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilton, four half-brothers: Lester, Paul, Lowell, Donald and half-sister Eila.
Visitation will take place at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of funeral service at 1:00 PM. Rev. Stephen Barch will officiate, and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Preferred memorials in Myrna’s memory may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
