Obituary for Moses B. Delgado

PEORIA – Moses B. Delgado, 85, of 6926 N. Stalworth Dr. (Liberty Village) died at 9:18 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 in his home. He had been a resident of Liberty Village Estates since April 1, 2012 and from the Peoria area all of his life.
Moses was born August 20, 1927, in Peoria, the son of Isaac and Altagracia Lujan Delgado. He married Cherry J. (Wainscott) on September 18, 1948. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2001, after 52 years of marriage.
Moses was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Christopher and Dwaine; one daughter, Sharon; three brothers, Marvin, Sam and Joe; four sisters, Evelyn, Maria, Mildred and Lucille.
Surviving are two sons Michael (Linda) Delgado of Bushnell and Jeffery (Maria) Delgado of New Port Richey, FL; one daughter, Linda Delgado of East Peoria; one sister Mrs. John (Esther) Razo; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Moses attended Woodruff High School.
He entered the US Army in 1944 serving in the South Pacific in the Philippines, Guam and Okinawa with the 670th MEDPORT as a vehicle inspector before the war ended in the Pacific. After his Honorable Discharge, Moses went to work with Caterpillar in 1947. He worked at CAT in various positions during his 45 years there, including Inventory Control and Factory Accounting in Time Keeping.
Moses enjoyed bowling and bowled in many leagues throughout the years. He attended St. Thomas Catholic Church and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of Liberty Village for their support and kindness during his final days along with OSF Hospice for their caregiving and guidance during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Moses’s name to Central Illinois Kidney Fund, PO Box 235, Morton, IL 61550 or OSF Hospice.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Wright Salmon Mortuary where visitation will be one hour before services. Chaplain Steve Drennan will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
