Obituary for Miriam V. Hawk
Miriam Vada (Scharp) Hawk of Peoria, IL passed away on October 21, 2017 at Lutheran Hillside Village.
She was born January 5, 1921 in Peoria, IL to Harry L. and Vada L. (Walker) Scharp. She married James Harrison Hawk on June 3, 1943, at the Army Air Corps Base in Smyrna, TN. He preceded her in death on October 13th, 2004. She is also preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Harrison Hawk; her sister, Roberta W. (Scharp) Sanders; and her brother, Walker L. Scharp.
Surviving are her daughters, Suzanne H. (James R.) Grube of Peoria, IL and Andrea H. (Edward L.) Crumrine of North Canton, OH; Four grandchildren, Nicholas James (Cleo) Grube of Chicago, IL, Jill Donnelly Grube of Peoria, IL, Adam Edward Crumrine of Bexley, OH, and Harrison Lee (Hannah) Crumrine of Wooster, OH.
Miriam attended Bradley University. She was a homemaker, did volunteer work for various organizations, and belonged to the Peoria Area Stitchers Guild and the American Needlepoint Guild. Most important was her Christian faith.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bethel and Emmanuel Place at Lutheran Hillside Village for the wonderful care she received throughout her stay there. Also the family appreciates the kindness her friends, nephews and nieces brought to her life.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary, 2416 N. North St., Peoria, IL with a service following at 1:30 PM at the mortuary. Pastor Jeff Harter will officiate. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery, Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the James and Miriam Hawk Scholarship Fund at Bradley University, 1501 W. Bradley Ave., Peoria, IL 61625, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Peoria Chapter, PO Box 9206, Peoria, IL 61612.
