Obituary for Michael S. Sullivan
Michael Stephen Sullivan, 75, of Peoria, IL passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice House in Peoria surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 30, 1947 in East St. Louis, IL to Michael and Vera (Westlake) Sullivan.
Mike is survived by his wife, Ingrid Sullivan and their children Ryan Sullivan and Erin (Chris) Alexander. Also surviving are his children Shannan (John) Werckle, Megan (Steve) Sack, and Kevin Sullivan along with his grandchildren Carmen, Luke, Bryn, Claire, Colin, Patrick, Molly, Blake, Ava, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike attended St. Patrick’s in Peoria, IL and graduated from Spalding class of ’66. He also attended classes at Bradley University. He later served in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart.
After his military service, Mike had a successful career serving as the Business Manager of Plumbers Local 63. He also was a co-owner of local businesses including Mt Hawley Inn, the Silver Bullet and Sonnemakers. After retiring, he enjoyed working for Beck’s Florist and OSF Healthcare Courier Services.
Mike was a sports fan who enjoyed watching his kids play soccer and hockey. He was involved in the local youth hockey program. He was a St Louis Cardinals fan but also a Chicago Blackhawks and Bears fan. Mike loved to tell stories and never knew a stranger.
A visitation will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 11am -1pm with Funeral Mass following at 1pm. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate. The church is located at 904 E Lake Ave, Peoria Heights, IL. Private family burial will be at Camp Butler in Springfield, IL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice House.
