Obituary for Michael L. Ryon
Peoria- Michael L. Ryon, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at UnityPoint Methodist in Peoria.
Mike was born February 16, 1957, in Peoria, a son of William A. and Mary C. (Martin) Ryon. He is survived by two brothers: Timothy (Nancy) Ryon of Peoria and Tom (Mary) Ryon of Edwards, one sister-in-law, Marialice Ryon of Peoria Heights, and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Ryon.
Mike obtained his Master’s Degree in Education from Illinois State University and was an educator for over 25 years in the Peoria Public Schools, last working at the Peoria Alternative School.
Mike was a gentle soul who enjoyed his family and friends. He was an avid antique collector, gardener, student of history and dog lover. He’ll be especially missed by his nieces and nephews.
The family wants to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Illinois CancerCare and the nursing staff of 7 Hamilton and 7 Crescent at UnityPoint Methodist.
A visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2018 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike’s name, may be made to Illinois CancerCare Foundation or Springdale Cemetery.
