Obituary for Michael J. Brubaker

PEORIA HEIGHTS-Michael J. Brubaker, 46, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on March 25, 1962 in Peoria to David and Sandra Estes Brubaker. He married Lynne Schmider on June 23, 1984 in Peoria Heights. She survives. He is also survived by his parents, David of Colorado and Sandra of Washington, IL; two daughters, Danielle Brubaker of Ft. Drum, NY and Kristen Brubaker at home; four brothers, David (Diane) Brubaker of Germantown Hills, IL, Mark (Tracy) Brubaker of Arvada, CO, Greg (Natalie) Mason of Lake Camelot and Tom (Tammy) Mason of Colorado; and two sisters, Dawne (Randy) Hardin of Pekin and Misty (Gerry) Schaffer of Port St. Lucie, FL. Mike was a truck driver for Federal Logistics in East Peoria. He was a member of the Saturday Night Mixed Bowling League. Mike loved shopping on E-Bay. There was never a dull moment when you were around “Brubie”, as he was known to many. Family was his world and words couldn’t explain how much he cherished them. He never met anyone he didn’t like and he was known to have ten minute phone conversations with the fortunate person who called the wrong number. He loved playing pool, fishing, darts and swimming in the backyard whenever he could. His most prized possession besides his daughters and wife was the newly renovated basement he and his neighbor, Don finished together. Brubie will always be remembered for his wacky and joyful sense of humor. No one will ever be able to forget how he could brighten their day with one of his off the wall sayings. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with Rev. Sammy Waller officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary and 30 minutes before the services. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Prevention of Abuse or Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
