Obituary for Michael G. Eisfelder
Peoria- Michael G. Eisfelder, 68, of Peoria passed away at 7:28 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Michael was born Sept. 14, 1947 in Peoria to George and Bernadine Epplin Eisfelder.
He married Cathy Devine on Nov. 20, 1971 in Peoria.
She survives along with his children, Matthew (Gina) Eisfelder of Pekin, Nathan (Kristina) Eisfelder of Peoria, Susan (James) Wallish of Riverside, Timothy (Leann) Eisfelder of Washington, Michelle Donaho of Peoria; 9 grandchildren, Tyler, Emme, Griffin, Jordan, Alexa, Zachary, Ava, Remy and Logan; 3 brothers, Anthony (Audrey) Eisfelder of Peoria, Stephen (Joann) Eisfelder of Green Bay and Thomas Eisfelder also of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Porter. Michael retired as an Inspector from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 2000.
Michael was a 1965 graduate from Spalding High School in Peoria.
He was a member of the German American Society’s Sports Verein, and lifelong member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
He was a Vietnam Army Veteran, serving with the 1-26 Infantry, also known as the “Blue Spaders”.
He was a true fan of area youth sports, volunteering countless hours coaching soccer and basketball at St. Bernard’s and Peoria Soccer Club.
He was an honorary member of the PSV Soccer Club, and an honorary coach for the Richwoods Soccer team.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Fr. James Pallardy will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m. Further visitation will be a half hour prior to the mass at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded after the mass.
