Obituary for Michael F. Kellerstrass
Michael F. Kellerstrass of Washington, IL, passed from this life to his eternal life at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA, on March 21, 2022.
The son of James R. Jr. and Frances M. (Ringness) Kellerstrass, he was born in Peoria on December 30, 1953.
Mike was a very hard worker, starting as a teenager working at Dixon Seafood in East Peoria while attending Metamora High School. After graduation, he worked for Caterpillar Inc. and then for George Young and Sons, which he retired from in 2008. After retirement, he worked at Roanoke Farming Association and at the time of his death he was driving cars for the Morton Auto Auction, which he loved doing. He was an avid White Sox baseball fan, loved going to garage sales where he searched for albums, adding to his collection of vinyl. He also cherished his Boston Terrier dogs Bosley, Bosco and Butch. He was such a caring and giving person, always available and willing to help his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Robin Kellerstrass of Willits, CA., fiancée Georgia Jenks whom he shared his home with, sisters, Mary (Joe) Burnett, Margaret (Dick) Hilliard, Martha Sue (Ron) Widdows all of Albuquerque, NM, Ruth (William) Howard of Washington, IL, Ida (John) Martel of Tampa, FL. brothers James (Mona) Kellerstrass of Green Bay, WI, Patrick (Teresa) Kellerstrass of Pekin, IL, and John (Licia) Kellerstrass of Broken Arrow, OK. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he always shared his words of wisdom with as they carried on in their many talks. They knew him as the uncle, who always wore a hat no matter what the occasion was.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter Rachel, his parents, including his step mother Ruth (Streid) Kellerstrass, who helped raise him, and a sister Roberta Kellerstrass .
A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, June 11, 2022 with open house to follow until 4:00pm at the American Legion, 4501 Airport Rd, Bartonville, IL.
