Obituary for Michael D. Bourscheidt
Michael D. Bourscheidt, 74, of Peoria, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his residence.
Michael was born on November 12, 1948 in Peoria, IL, a son of Norbert and Violet (Hilton) Bourscheidt. He married Jane Oertley on October 18, 1991. She survives, as well as their daughter Annie (John) Kantz and two grandsons, Bobby and Charlie Kantz. Also surviving are his first wife, Victoria Claudin and their daughters, Stacy (Rob) Penney and Heidi Bourscheidt, grandchildren Jamie, Amanda, Ashley, Jennifer, Tessa, Alexandra, seven great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Marilyn Doolan and Linda Behrens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Randall and Dennis Bourscheidt and one nephew, Jeffrey Behrens.
Michael graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1967 and attended Bradley University. He worked as an accountant, worked in sales, and was the former owner of the Tip Top Inn. He later owned and operated Custom Closets and Storage. Michael was a member of the Knights of Columbus and longtime member of several Catholic Churches in Peoria.
Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends, particularly summer grilling on the deck, holiday celebrations, and annual beach trips to the Florida Panhandle. Most recently returning last week from Panama City Beach.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Wright and Salmon Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at St Vincent de Paul Church with a half hour prior visitation.
Cremation Rites will follow services.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or The Children’s Hospital of Illinois Pediatric Diabetes Center.
