Obituary for Melvin H. Noe
East Peoria-Melvin H. Noe, age 91, passed away at 6:31 AM Friday, May 5, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.
Melvin was born October 16, 1925 in Worth Township in IL., a son of George A. and Catherine Kneip Noe. He married Lucille Eisele June 29, 1957 in Pontiac, IL., she passed March 2, 1999. Also preceding Melvin in death were his five brothers and one sister.
Melvin is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Noe of Peoria, one son, Joseph (Marguerite) Noe of Morton, one grandson, Christopher Noe of Morton, three brothers; Anthony (Sheila) Noe of Marquette Heights, Raymond (Phyllis) Noe of Washington, and Ralph (Carol) Noe of Sherman, one sister, Josephine Stalzer of Madison, SD, and dear friend Mary Ellen Lamb of Peoria.
Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Army as a sergeant in the Korean conflict. He last worked in the shipping department at Caterpillar for 42 years, until his retirement in 1988.
Melvin loved to be with family, travel, play cards and go to auctions. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. Melvin always had a smile. He loved to visit the sick and never knew a stranger. He will be truly missed.
Melvin was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Cursillo of Peoria, and Christ the King Prayer Group at St. Thomas.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria for the wonderful care they provided their father.
Visitation will be held 4:30 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with a rosary recitation at 6:45. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, in Peoria Heights, with a visitation half hour prior. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church or Cursillo of Peoria.
