Obituary for Mary W. Willi

PEORIA-Mary W. Willi, 96, of Peoria, died at 5:13 AM on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at her residence. She was born July 6, 1915, in Funks Grove, IL a daughter of Frederick C. and Flora Sims Wright. She married Boyd J. Rahn on January 3, 1942, in Peoria. He passed away August 7, 1962. She then married Carl H. Willi on June 14, 1969, in Peoria and he passed away July 3, 1986. Mary was also preceded in death by two sons, Rex Rahn and Paul Willi; a granddaughter, Barbara Willi, two grandsons, Jacob Willi and Bernie Hayden Jr., and two brothers, Frederick and Richard Wright. Mary obtained her master’s degree in education from Bradley University. She was a teacher for District 150 teaching at White School for many years. She was involved with the Reading for the Blind through WBCU. Mary volunteered at the information desk at OSF St. Francis. She also served as a Eucharist minister for Bel Wood Nursing Home. Mary is survived by three daughters, Mary Angela (Ed) Willi of Metamora, Martha (Don Schwingel) Willi of Peoria, Mary Hayden of Orange, CT; nine sons, David (Lucy) Rahn of Menlo Park, CA, John (Sandy) Rahn of Peoria, Robert (Sharey) Willi of Peoria, John (Susan) Willi of Peoria, Edward (Mary Angela) Willi of Metamora, David (Michelle) Willi of Peoria, Mark (Dana) Willi of Kickapoo, Pete (Mary) Willi of Peoria, Martin (Mary) Willi of Dunlap, and a daughter-in-law, Cathi Willi of Peoria. She also has 38 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jean (John) Licata of Clio, CA and Joann Norton of Pittsburgh, PA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011, at St. Mark Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin Lucas officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark School. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
