Obituary for Mary V. Zant
Peoria-Mary Virginia Zant, of Buehler Home passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Buehler Home in Peoria.
Mary was born in Jacksonville, Illinois the daughter of Margaret and Phillip Stewart. She married Wilbert A. Zant of Peoria. Mary was employed as a secretary of OSF St. Francis Medical Center for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Women’s Guild of St. Vincent de Paul, OSF St. Francis Auxiliary, The Woman’s Apostolate of Prayer, St. Francis Retirees, and the Catholic Women’s League.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Thomas A. Zant of St. Louis and James W. Zant of Providence, Rhode Island. Three grandchildren; David T. Nauman of St. Louis, Molly A. Nauman of Texas, and Colleen F. Osman of Massachusetts, one great-granddaughter, Jade Marie Nauman, and one sister, Frances Gardiner of California.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert A. Zant on June 20, 1974, her daughter, Peg Nauman of Peoria, three brothers; William A. Stewart of Florida, Phillip L. Stewart of Minonk, Illinois, James E. Stewart of California and one sister, Rosalie Mullooly of Galesburg, IL.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church at 10:30 AM Friday, September 23, 2016. Father Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation is one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
Memorials in Mary’s name may be made to St. Vincent elementary school.
