Obituary for Mary Mercedes Paulsen
PEORIA Mary Mercedes Paulsen, 94, of Peoria passed away at 1:25 p.m. Saturday April 26, 2014, at Bickford Cottage.
Mary was born on September 25, 1919, in Harvard, Ill., to Michael and Hannah (Sullivan) Shields. She married Lyle F. Paulsen on June 29, 1946, in Harvard, Ill. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1981, in Woodstock, Ill.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Father Thomas Shields and Joseph Shields; and one sister, Dorothy Shields.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Pam) Paulsen of Brimfield, James (Kathy) Paulsen of Victoria, Minn., and Tom (Stephanie) Paulsen of Woodstock, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jenny (Mike) Kozlowski of Colorado, Ryan (Leah) Paulsen of Elmhurst, Ill., Amy (Brett Walker) Paulsen of Livermore, Calif., and Amanda (Andy) Crusen of Peoria; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary worked as a teacher.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock, Ill.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial Mass will be held in Woodstock, Ill., at a later date. Wright Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
