Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Haynes

PEORIA – Mary Elizabeth Haynes, 60, of Peoria died peacefully at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on March 5, 1954, in Peoria to Jerry K. and Patricia R. (Heffren) Hranka. She married Larry Haynes on May 24, 1991. He survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Betsy (Michael) Benedict of Bloomington; her son, Christian Doyle of Peoria; her step-daughter, Bridget (Robert) Young of Peoria; four precious granddaughters, Paige, Sydney, Abby, and Emma Benedict; five sisters, Therese Peck of Peoria, Maggie Nelson and Anna (Kirk) McKinzie both of Bloomington, Cecelia (Ray) White of Pontiac, and Kathleen (Joe) Heskett of Dunlap; four brothers, Jerome “Joe” (Shelly) Hranka of Groveland, Thomas (Susan) Hranka of Germantown Hills, John (Karen) Hranka of Rockford, and Patrick (Pam) Hranka of Oswego; and many nieces and nephews. Extended family includes Michelle (Chuck) Hughes, Connor and Kellen Hornbuckle of Bettendorf, Iowa, and the late Nathan Hornbuckle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kelli Maureen Doyle. Mary was a 1972 graduate of PCHS in Pekin and a 1975 graduate of OSF St. Francis College of Nursing in Peoria. She worked for 33 years as a RN at OSF St. Francis Medical Center and Proctor Community Hospital. She later worked as a case manager with Aging Care Management in Peoria, retiring from her nursing career in 2012. She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church and a Perpetual Adorer. She was an active member of the Peoria Cursillo Community and volunteered for several years with the annual Whitney’s Walk for Life. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be fro 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, also at the church. There will be no visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Philomena Catholic Church, Illinois CancerCare Foundation, or OSF Hospice (2265 W.
